First death anniversary of Dr Aijaz Fatima observed

Karachi: First death anniversary of Dr. Aijaz Fatima, founder and trustee of Dr. Ziauddin Hospital and mother of Dr. Asim Hussain was observed yesterday at her  residence in North Nazimabad. Dr. Aijaz Fatima breathed last on May 27 after prolonged illness at age of ninety-six. ­Dr. Fatima remained a well-known gynecologist during her professional life in Pakistan. She devoted her life to field of medicine and health. Dr. Fatima along with her husband Dr. Tajammul Hussain laid foundation of Ziauddin Hospital in 1957 in dedication to father Sir Dr Ziauddin Ahmed. Sir Dr Ziauddin Ahmed was a visionary politician, educationist, scholar and first Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University in un-divided India.

Dr. Fatima was hardworking, dedicated and determined woman to her noble cause. Her institutions she founded are one of major health care institutions in country. Her services in field of medicine cannot be ignored as it is evident that thousands of scholars after passing out from these institutions are serving medicine and health sector across country and globally.

Quran khawani was also held at institutions to pay tribute to late lady where a number of attendees belonging to medicine, health, social welfare and civil society besides alumni and family members and friends highlighted Dr Fatima’s services for well-being of humanity. ZU and Hospital employees besides DC Central Taha Sleem also attended.
