KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples’ Party leader and former Petroleum Minister Dr. Asim Hussain urged authorities to implement new Sindh Police recruitment policy judiciously so that local youths in Karachi also become entitled to serve and get rid of unemployment.

Talking to a group of youngsters who complained about sense of deprivation for not being given due role and opportunities in serving local police despite having all basic physical and educational qualifications and skills Dr Asim assured them for a positive result in this direction.

Sindh Police has recently started fresh recruitment throughout province. Sindh Police jobs vacancies list includes Inspector, Police Commando, SSU, Head Constable, Male/Lady Constable, Computer Operator, Data Entry Operator, Auctioneer Consultant, Police Commando driver, Investigation Officer, Wireless Operator, Hardware Technician and Driver. Pay scales for junior clerk (BPS-11), HC wireless operator (BPS-07), constable (BPS-05) and IT-related as well as class-IV posts in all units of Sindh Police with salary range of Rs 20,000 to 90,000.  Revised recruitment policy was announced in January by then Sindh Police Chief Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar for year 2022 saying that he was concerned about recruitment procedure and to make it more transparent.

SP Investigation District Central Shehla Qureshi while talking to National Courier said the educational qualification for constable should be at least intermediate and for ASI it should be graduation. There is a need for skilled and digitalized personnel in the police department to streamline its functions.

She said in District Central we have controlled the crimes through regular patrolling and dedication of the force members without any discrimination just on merit. With reference to the case of Karachi girl Dua Zehra, she disclosed that on average there are about fifteen cases of such type in Karachi being reported each month when the girls are escaped from their homes and married of free will.

To control this menace there is a great responsibility on parents to monitor the activities of their children. Otherwise, to handle such cases and recovery of these girls is a very costly procedure for mobilization of police party while at the end of the day court says that it was a marriage of free will and the whole effort by police is nullified, the SP Investigation concluded.
