DR ASIM OPPOSES NTS PRE-ENTRY TEST

By Nasir Mahmood

KARACHI: Former minister petroleum and Sindh Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Asim Hussain has opposed a plan to let the National Testing Service (NTS) conduct the pre-entry test at the universities of the province. “I am against this system, and the people responsible for illegal test making billions of rupees must be brought to book and punished. This needs to be inquired and the Chief Minister has taken a right step and I urge to first arrest the NTS officials like me and then start inquiry, if there is any rule of law,” he said. He was talking to media outside accountability court yesterday where he was appeared in NAB JJVL reference No.19/2016 and the court adjourned hearing for November 11. Dr Asim Hussain said that all medical universities of the province must be free from the control of the Sindh Health Department and the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council. He further stated that NTS is the brainchild of the PMDC, they are forcing the governments in all provinces. I have categorically opposed NTS on each and every forum due to two reasons. First this is not the organization having capacity to conduct such tests. They did not call any meeting of the educationists nor did they contact to the Sindh higher commission or medical colleges. They do not know that for making a doctor we check many skills and mindset of the medical student. There is no other example of entry test world over, said Dr Asim. Each college and university has its own system of testing to check the medical students. But PMDC has started this innovation which is absolutely wrong and such type of NTS should not be held. I think that through this process independence of universities is being compromised.
