DIRECTS GOVT TO REMOVE NAME FROM ECL
From Our Correspondent
ISLAMABAD: Sup-reme Court of Pakistan yesterday removed the name of President, Pakistan People’s Party, Karachi Division, DrAsim Hussain from the Exit Control List (ECL) and allowed him to travel abroad for medical treatment. According to details, the case pertaining to the exclusion of Dr Asim’s name from the no-fly list was heard by the division bench of the court including Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Qazi Faiz Isa. It is pertinent to mention here that, earlier this year also, DrAsim had travelled abroad for medical treatment and he fulfilled his promise of returning back after treatment within the time period as specified by the court. However, after returning back PPP leader appeared to be pretty healthy and fit in all aspect, then again his name was put on the ECL upon his arrival to Pakistan. During today’s hearing, Justice Isa also raised several questions about why the law constraining people to fly abroad was not being applied equivalently for all. “Traitors and people involved in other serious cases are all sitting abroad simply with no fear,” he said. “Have any effective measures been taken to get defectors back to Pakistan?” Justice Isa asked.
