NAB lawyers demand copy of filed application

HEARING IN DR ASIM’S BAIL PLEA PUT OFF

KARACHI: A division bench of Sindh High Court, comprising Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh and Justice Muhammad Saleem Jessar, yesterday adjourned the hearing of bail application of Dr Asim Hussain and four others to Tuesday (December 20). During the hearing, Barrister Latif Khosa, appearing on behalf of former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain for hearing of bail application and u/s 426, Cr.P.C, presented his arguments before the bench on medical grounds and explained the ailment history of his client with reference to the reports of medical board. Khosa stated that he wished to place arguments on merit as well as the medical grounds in favour of his client. “I have already obtained the bail for Dr Asim Hussain on medical grounds from the SHC in a reference filed against him in ATC court,” Khosa submitted before the bench. The NAB lawyers, Malik Altaf and Akram Javed, raised an objection that the defence had not provided them copy of the application filed on medical grounds. Over which the bench, headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M. Sheikh, ordered to provide the same to the NAB prosecutors and adjourned the hearing to 20th December. Owais Jamal, another advocate for Dr Asim Hussain, later replying to a query from the National Courier stated that he has personally delivered the copy of the application as demanded by the NAB lawyers on the same day.
