By Nasir Mahmood

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court division bench comprising Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Muhammad Humayun Khan has fixed 15th May as the next date of hearing for Dr Asim’s plea for removal of his name from ECL. On next date Deputy Attorney General would be allowed to submit his arguments while in yesterday’s hearing Dr Asim’s counsel Lateef Khosa completed his arguments. Khosa while talking to media outside the court stated; “I am grateful to division bench of Sindh High Court for hearing our arguments but due to laziness of the government side the court has given them some more time up to 15 May to submit their arguments. I am confident that on next hearing the Court would accept or application for proceeding abroad for treatment and surgery. There is a wrong impression that we are delaying the case. We know that all the cases against Dr Asim are false and baseless, we are always ready to face these cases.” Replying to various questions from media, Latif Khosa said that so far nine medical boards consisting expert doctors from leading hospitals of the country had examined the case of Dr Asim Hussain. They had reported that he needs disc replacement surgery, this is a specialized surgery that should be done in the hospital where usually it is done. Director NAB had examined all those reports and he was informed that this is a very serious type of surgery that is not possible in any hospital of Pakistan. The judges who granted bail to Dr Asim Hussain had also minutely checked those medical reports. He further stated that Dr Asim’s heart beat is also missing very often. “His disc gap is very serious which if not operated could paralyze the lower half that is a threat to his life.”
