‘Ask NAB, it knows better than me’

KARACHI: Commenting on the reports of freezing his assets, Dr Asim Hussain has said that according to his knowledge there was no order issued by any court about freezing of assets.
“At present NAB is the authority, perhaps they know better than me about my assets,” he said while talking to media persons outside the NAB Court IV yesterday.
Earlier, the hearing was adjourned for June 1 after the court accepted the leave application from third prosecution witness Imaduddin, who has gone outside the country to perform Umrah.
It may be mentioned here that there were news spreading in local media for last three days that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to freeze the assets of former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain after he tried to transfer his property to his son.
It was said that the bureau has written a letter to Sindh government for freezing the assets. It was claimed that Dr Asim had acquired land illegally for establishment of Ziauddin Hospital, according to the NAB document presented by the prosecutor in the court.
However, Dr Asim pleaded not guilty saying that he was being politically victimised. He said charges framed against him were fake and baseless. The former minister was arrested on August 25, 2015 by the Rangers.
