Zardari accuses FIA of harassing DrAsim

REJOINDER TO PM’S REMARKS ON NAB
KARACHI: Commenting on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s remarks about harassment of government employees by the NAB, former president Asif Ali Zardari yesterday said that the FIA was doing the same against opposition party.

“Mian Sahib not only NAB but your FIA is also doing the same job,” he said in a statement issued by the PPP. “Dr Asim is not involved in corruption, and one of your ministers has also conceded this,” he was quoted in the statement as saying.

The PPP leader further said that Dr Asim was being harassed for months. Zardari also accused the government of repeatedly violating the 18th amendment to the Constitution.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif warned National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against ‘harassing’ government employees.

“The NAB must perform its duty responsibly. They barge into houses and offices of innocent people to harass them without looking into authenticity of cases,” he said.
