KARACHI: Dr Asim Hussain has said that he will not leave the country whatever the circumstances are. “Our forefathers sacrificed for this country and we will offer our sacrifices too,” he said. He was replying to the media queries outside NAB court IV after the hearing of his case. The hearing was adjourned till August 16.

Dr Asim while congratulating the nation for the coming Independence Day said that to save the integrity of Pakistan there must be someone to sacrifice and I am one of them. Replying to another question he said that after coming out of the present crisis he will join his medical profession and restrict himself to his profession alone.
Earlier, the NAB court recorded statement of Dr Raza, Professor of Neurosurgery, JPMC, member of the Medical Board constituted for Dr Asim. He disclosed that there was no facility available for backbone surgery in Jinnah Hospital.
The court was amazed to hear this statement and asked why such a big hospital was unable to offer this cure. The court ordered arranging this facility in Jinnah hospital and also e Medical Board’s head Dr Haroon Ahmed to attend the court on next date of hearing.
It may be mentioned here that the Board in its report had concluded that the surgeon after examination did not have anything new to add except recommending Hydrotherapy (wherever it is available), in addition to physiotherapy during hospitalization. The therapy for certain emotional issues (Panic, Depression, and Fear) should continue for which he should remain in hospital.
The Neurosurgeons and Orthopedic surgeons had reviewed their  earlier report dated June 6 “in view of the intractability of the pain and motion limitation, he is advised surgical lumber disc replacement at a centre where it is regularly performed”.  They said the only option (if surgery not possible) is to start hydrotherapy wherever available.
