Dr Asim’s case: Court seeks hospitals list providing Hydrotherapy treatment

KARACHI: The Accountability Court while hearing Dr. Asim’s case has directed the NAB to file a list of hospitals  having facility of surgery for lumber disc replacement and hydrotherapy.
During the hearing yesterday, Deputy Director JPMC, Dr Javed Jamali and Dr Nausheen appeared before the court. To a query by the court they stated that Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center had the facilities for hydrotherapy about 20 years ago. They told the court that a summary was sent to the Govt. of Sindh to provide funds and machinery for hydrotherapy. Dr Jamali informed the court that the hydrotherapy treatment has to be provided to a patient three times in a week.
During previous hearing Anwar Mansoor Khan Advocate, the defence counsel had informed the court that  his client Dr Asim Hussain had approached the Aga Khan Hospital and Liaquat National Hospital for hydrotherapy but both the hospitals informed that they do not have any such facility.
Anwar Mansoor informed the court that this facility was available only in Dr Ziauddin Hospital but without court’s permission he does not want to approach there. Defence counsel had requested the court to grant this permission.
Earlier, during the hearing the defence counsel Amir Raza Naqvi cross examined the prosecution witness Amaduddin Chachar, Section Officer, Sindh Revenue Board and asked him whether he had got the Supreme Court Order in CP-16/2011-(K) in respect of the land allotments and has he submitted the compliance report to the Supreme Court of Pakistan and that whether he has issued notices to all allottees or some of  them.
The witness replied in positive but said that he had not produced the copy of the compliance report on NAB Court record. The Accountability Court directed him to produce the same on next date and adjourned the hearing for Saturday, October 08.
