Dr Asim remanded into NAB custody for fourth time

KARACHI: An accountability court yesterday extended the physical remand of Dr Asim Hussain in the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) till February 9.

The court extended the remand for the fourth time after he was presented before it by the NAB authorities on the expiry of the previous remand.

The court ordered the NAB to appoint security personnel for Dr Asim Hussain and that these personnel should be in their uniforms.

The court rejected the request that a family member be allowed to stay with Dr Asim Hussain.

During the proceeding, the investigation officer presented a report on the progress made so far. The report said that statements of four more witnesses have been recorded.

Dr Asim is also due to be produced before the ATC (II) on January 8 as previously the court had issued non-bailable warrants of arrest against several leaders and ordered their production before the court on January 8.
