KARACHI: The spokesman for Dr Asim Hussain while welcoming the Sindh High Court decision in favor of Khalid Bin Shaheen absolving him of all charges, said this proves that the cases framed against mala fide Dr Asim Hussain are false, fabricated, concocted and based on and ill-intentions. When contacted Dr Asim’s spokesman Amir Shahzad informed that Khalid Bin Shaheen is a seasoned banker who had developed remittance portfolios in the country’s two largest banks, Habib Bank and the National Bank. He served at the bank as the senior executive vice president. Upon his meritorious performance, he had been nominated for the pride of performance award in 2005 and 2006. It may be mentioned here that the court yesterday while disposing of the application, instructed the FIA and the Rangers that Khalid Bin Shaheen, brother-in-law of Dr Asim, should neither be harassed nor any action should be taken without permission from the court. A two-judge bench heard the application filed by Khalid Bin Shaheen. During hearing, the court was informed by NAB officials that inquiry against Khalid Bin Shaheen had been closed, and that there was no need for further inquiry against him. Earlier, according to NAB allegations the petitioner was being investigated for money laundering and a hype was created in media against him. The petitioner, Khalid Bin Shaheen, had said in his petition that he had nothing to do with the NAB reference regarding Dr Asim Hussain and yet NAB has been harassing him. When court asked what material was on record against him, the NAB categorically stated that they had no evidence against him. Hence the court disposed of the application and ordered that he could not be arrested in any other case without court’s permission.
