Another feather in the cap of Dr Ziauddin Hospital

ISQUA, JAPAN ACCEPTS ANJUM ‘S ABSTRACT

KARACHI: The abstract submission of “Waiting Time Management of Initial Patients in OPD” produced by Dr. Ziauddin Hospital has been accepted for presentation as a poster to audience in the 33rd International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) conference to be held in October 2016 in Tokyo, Japan. The abstracts were submitted by Ms Anjum Khamisani, MS, RHIA, CHTS-PW, and Head of the Medical Record, Document Imaging and Out-Patient Department at Dr. Ziauddin Hospital Clifton, Karachi. Earlier, in 2014, her two abstracts related to process improvements at Dr Ziauddin Hospital were accepted for presentation in 31st ISQua Conference in Rio, Brazil. Many healthcare organizations are moving towards adopting electronic medical records in their practices, this real-life example proved to be beneficial. This model has contributed towards automation at an operational level at Dr. Ziauddin Hospital Clifton, Karachi resulting in a positive impact on improving the continuous care of patients. ISQua is a global organization that originated in 1984. An annual conference is held in October every year and a specialized scientific committee evaluates the abstracts received from all over the world and the accepted few are presented. The abstracts are accepted solely on the basis of an innovative idea that focuses on improving healthcare quality. The first time Dr. Ziauddin Hospital participated in ISQua abstract submission was in 2014 and the abstracts that were submitted were accepted for presentation in the 31stISQua Conference in October 2014 in Rio, Brazil. Last month, a series of webinar 2016 was conducted by the American Health Information Management (AHIMA) Chicago which is the premier association of health information management (HIM) professionals worldwide. The webinar series comprised a presentation in Chicago on May 17, 2016 by Ms. Anjum Khamisani on “An Interoperable Model to Bridge Systems Working in Silos”. The session addressed health information and clinical documentation improvement at Dr. Ziauddin Hospital. Dr. Ziauddin Hospital is focused on strengthening efforts to cultivate and increase the use of IT tools to help improve the quality and efficiency of the delivery of healthcare.
