Dr Asim must be treated fairly

According to the news appearing in print and electronic media former petroleum Minister Dr Asim Hussain has completed one year of illegal detention on 26th August. Neither, he is admitted to bail by any court nor any notable progress in the references filed against him is seen. It means that the law enforcement agencies are free to pick and choose any educated and skilled gentleman and incarcerate him for indefinite period without proving any allegations against him and he could not get justice from institutions dispensing justice. This is an alarming situation, by doing so what message we are communicating to the independent world? This is not a fair treatment for a common citizen of Pakistan. I request the government authorities to please reconsider this situation and treat him with respect, instead of adopting the victimization policy. Nafees Qureshi, Karachi
